Assam: Ram Navami celebrates in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh: On the ocassion of Ram Navami, a colourful rally was organised by ISKCON, Dibrugarh where hundreds of people participated.

The rally crossed through the main routes of Dibrugarh town before ended at ISKCON,  temple in Dibrugarh.

“On the auspicious ocassion of Ram Navami, we took out the rally in Dibrugarh. Hundreds of people participated in the rally with full enthusiasm,” said a organiser.

Ram Navami is a Hindu festival that celebrated the birthday of Ram, the seventh avatar of the deity Vishnu. The festival celebrates the descent of Vishnu as the Ram avatar(incarnation) through his birth to Kingh Dashartha and queen Kausalya in Ayodhya, Kosala. The festival is a part of the Chaitra Navaratri in the spring, and falls on the ninth day of the bright half (Shukla Paksha) of Chaitr, the first month of the Hindu calender.

In the rally, many of them play the role of Ram, Hanuman, Ravan and Laxman.

On the other hand, Basanti puja was celebrated in Dibrugarh with pomp and gaiety. Hindu Milan Mandir, Dibrugarh and Kalibari organised the Basanti puja where thousands of devotees gathered at the puja pandal to take blessings.

“Every year, we celebrated Basanti puja at our Hindu Milan Mandir(Bharatsevshram). With full Vedic rituals we conduct our puja. Devotees from all over the district came here to take blessings,” said Pranabandu Ghosh, a member of Hindu Milan Mandir.
