Vadodara, March 6, 2026 — In a display of seamless collaboration and quick response, the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) has stepped up to support the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) by providing specialized turf management equipment for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 knockout stages.

The assistance came following an urgent late-night request on March 1 from BCCI General Manager Mr. Abey Kuruvilla to BCA CEO Mr. Snehal Parikh. The ask was to deploy the Toro Multi Pro 1750 Turf Sprayer, a precision machine critical for maintaining international-standard playing surfaces.

With swift approval from BCA President Mr. Pranav Amin and Honorary Secretary Mr. Ajit Lele, the association mobilized immediately. The Toro Multi Pro 1750, accompanied by trained operator Mr. Sailesh Chavada, was transported from Vadodara and arrived at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium by the morning of March 3.

This state-of-the-art equipment, boasting a 175-gallon (approximately 662 litres) tank and advanced boom spray system, enables uniform application of fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, and anti-dew solutions across vast turf areas, essential for delivering pristine outfields under high-stakes pressure.

Upon arrival, the machine swung into action under the Mumbai Cricket Association’s oversight. Pesticide treatment was applied to the outfield on March 3, followed by anti-dew spraying starting March 4, optimizing conditions for the high-profile second semi-final between India and England on March 5 at Wankhede Stadium. India emerged victorious by 7 runs in a thriller, advancing to the final.

To ensure smooth operations, BCA Chief Curator and Stadium-in-Charge Mr. Atul Bedade reached Wankhede on the evening of March 4, where he continues to coordinate with the operator and local ground staff.

Post-semi-final, the Toro Multi Pro will head to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to aid preparations for the tournament final on March 8.

BCA’s contribution underscores its elite turf management capabilities. The association owns two such Toro Multi Pro machines, a rare distinction shared with only one other cricket body in India.

“This timely intervention highlights the strong partnership between BCA and BCCI,” a BCA statement noted. “We remain fully committed to sharing our expertise, infrastructure, and resources to elevate Indian cricket during marquee national and international events.”

The gesture not only ensured top-notch pitch conditions for the World Cup’s climactic matches but also exemplified inter-association solidarity in delivering a world-class tournament on home soil.
