Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi has directed officials to develop an inclusive and environmentally sustainable tourism plan for the district, incorporating its historical forts, religious sites, cultural and sports heritage, rivers, wildlife, biodiversity, dams, agriculture, forests, water tourism, adventure sports, birdwatching, pilgrimage tourism, and grassland safaris, etc. Moreover, the use of artificial intelligence and advanced technology is part of the planning process.
This decision was made during a meeting with higher officials, including Deputy Conservator of Forests Mahadev Mohite, Pune Regional Deputy Director of Tourism Shama Pawar, Superintendent Engineer of the Public Works Department Bappa Bahir, Assistant Director of the Archaeology Department Dr. Vilas Wahane, and District Planning Officer Kiran Indalkar.
Collector Dudi highlighted that Pune district has a rich history, particularly due to the forts associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He emphasized the need to transform these forts into major tourist attractions. The initiatives will not only boost tourism but also help generate local employment and promote regional traditions and culture.
Dudi added that officials have been instructed to ensure cleanliness and protect the environment during development. Additionally, all the information should be updated online.
