Mumbai: A shocking case of blackmail came to light from Mumbai’s Andheri area, where a 27-year-old woman was allegedly threatened by her colleague with the viral circulation of her obscene photos. The accused, identified as 28-year-old Naveen Kumar Singh, was arrested by MIDC Police following a complaint of extortion and molestation.
Accused Allegedly Sexually Assaulted Victim, Blackmailed Her
The complainant, a resident of Ghatkopar, previously worked at a private company in Lower Parel, where she met Singh, who served as a supervisor. Over time, they developed a friendly relationship.
Four years ago, Singh invited her to his birthday celebration at the New Life Hotel in Marol, Andheri. During the celebration, he allegedly forced himself on her, sexually assaulted her and secretly took explicit photos on his mobile phone, Lokmat Times reported.
₹70,000 Demanded, Threatened To Share Photos On Social Media
After the assault, Singh began blackmailing the woman, demanding Rs 70,000 to prevent the release of the photos on social media. Despite his repeated threats, the woman stood firm and refused to meet his demands. The situation escalated when Singh allegedly sent the explicit photos to her sister, causing her immense public humiliation.
Unable to bear the harassment, the victim approached Ghatkopar Police Station to file a complaint. The case was later transferred to the MIDC Police, as the incident occurred in Andheri’s Marol area. The police acted swiftly, arresting Singh and seizing his mobile phone, which contained several obscene photos of the complainant.
A case has been registered against Singh under sections related to molestation and extortion, and further investigations are underway.

Under pressure, Pathan reportedly paid Rs 2.7 lakh to the accused over a period of time. However, when the threats continued, he decided to approach the authorities. The Samta Nagar Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) in the case on February 18.
