To commemorate the 147th birth anniversary of Shree Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, The Maharaja Sayajirao University Union had organized a 3 KM marathon “RUN FOR UNITY” on 13th October 2022 for the stakeholders of The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. The Opening Ceremony of the marathon began with singing the University Song at 7:30 am. The Chief Guest for the marathon was the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Prof.(Dr) Vijay Kumar Srivastava.
The Flag off of the marathon was done from The Maharaja Sayajirao University Union Pavilion at 8.00 AM by the Hon’ble Chief Guest Prof.(Dr) Vijay Kumar Srivastava and the Director of the Physical Department, Dr. Harjit Kaur.
The marathon was directed through the University premises to promote the spirit of Unity and Integrity amongst the stakeholders of the University. From a total of 490 registrations, nearly 250 participated in the marathon with 27 volunteers from The Maharaja Sayajirao University Union and the CycloArmy.
The marathon concluded with the Prize Distribution ceremony. Ms. Beena Prasant, Principal of IIRA International School, and Dr. Reena Bhatia President The Maharaja Sayajirao University Union awarded the top 10 finishers with medals. The Vote of Thanks was given by the student coordinators Ms. Siya Gupta and Mr. Shlok Parmar. The closing ceremony concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
