Vadodara: The Income Tax Department conducted a search operation at seven locations in Vadodara, including two chemical companies, offices, and residences of directors, starting early this morning.
According to the primary information, the Income Tax Department, searches were carried out at various locations, including the offices of the chemical company near Gorwa, the Gotri Harinagar water tank, the Gorwa BIDC, the Panoli GIDC, and the chemical production units situated at Nandeshari. Additionally, the residences of the directors of these companies were also searched. The IT Department conducted searches at a total of seven places. Although no official statement has been provided by the Income Tax Department, the two companies where the alleged searches took place are Prakash and Kutch Chemicals.
The Income Tax Department conducted the searches in collaboration with the local police from the early hours of the morning. Several incriminating documents have been seized, and an investigation is underway. Additionally, bank accounts are being scrutinized, while the IT Department teams are gathering information related to chemical production and sales within the companies.
Sources reveal that the IT Department has confiscated computer data and sealed bank lockers of the individuals under investigation. The bank accounts of family members are also being probed, and cash and jewellery are being scrutinized in the directors’ houses.
During the searches, office workers were asked to leave the premises and forced to wait outside for hours. The main gate of the offices was closed by the police, prohibiting entry or exit from the premises.
