Guwahati, Feb 21: The Assam police have recovered the body of Amarjyoti Dey on Tuesday, who went missing in August last year and is believed to have been murdered and dismembered by his wife Bandana Kalita.
The body was recovered in a plastic bag near Dawki road on Thursday.
The sensational double murder case of son and mother has rocked the entire state.
According to police, Amarjyoti Dey was reported missing on August 17 and was initially feared to have been kidnapped.
After the police investigation it was revealed that he had been killed and his body chopped into pieces.
His wife Bandana Kalita was arrested on murder of his husband and mother -in –law.
Since August last year, the mother-son duo, the victims in the case, were reported missing from their residence.
The murder of the mother-son duo by the woman came to light on Sunday (February 19), seven months after the murder took place.
Police said the incident took place at Noonmati locality in Guwahati city.
According to reports, the murders are believed to have been the result of an extra-marital relationship that the accused woman had with another man.
Bandana Kalita – the prime accused in the Guwahati double murder case in Assam has refuted the allegations levelled against her.
“Bandana Kalita has confessed that he had killed his mother-in-law Shankari Dey and husband Amarjyoti Dey. After killing them she cut the body into multiple pieces and let the rented home where she was staying,” said Guwahati Police Commissioner Diganta Borah.
