Gandhinagar, May 11, 2025: In response to the escalating tensions and border conflicts between India and Pakistan, Gujarat’s Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi called an urgent meeting at the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) in Gandhinagar. The purpose of this meeting was to review the security arrangements in the state’s border districts, including Kutch, Patan, and Banaskantha, and to formulate future strategies.
Following the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Minister Sanghavi held discussions with senior state officials, Relief Commissioner Alok Pandey, Jayanti Ravi, SP Ravi Teja Vasamshetty, and senior army and police officers. It was revealed during the meeting that 18 districts of the state have been placed on high alert, with a particular emphasis on strengthening security measures in border areas.
Repercussions of Tensions with Pakistan
In retaliation to India’s ‘Operation Sindoor,’ Pakistan attempted drone and missile attacks on India’s northern and western regions on Thursday night, which were successfully thwarted by the Indian Army. Following these incidents, a blackout-like situation was observed in Gujarat’s border villages, compelling the state government to take immediate action.
During the meeting, Minister Harsh Sanghavi issued clear instructions that the government is fully vigilant and urged the public to avoid rumors and rely only on official information. He also directed officials to maintain constant surveillance in border areas and remain prepared for any unforeseen circumstances.
Special Focus on Gujarat’s Security Arrangements
As a border state, Gujarat is paying special attention to its security arrangements. Discussions during the meeting focused on increasing the deployment of police, BSF, and army personnel in border districts and taking necessary steps to ensure the safety of civilians. Additionally, security has been enhanced at the state’s airports and other critical locations.
Appeal to Citizens
Minister Sanghavi appealed to citizens to maintain peace and follow government directives. He stated that the state and central governments are working in coordination, and the Indian Army is closely monitoring the situation.
This meeting is a significant part of Gujarat’s preparedness and vigilance in the context of India-Pakistan tensions. The state government has made it clear that Gujarat is fully equipped to handle any emergency situation.
