Vadodara division started the use of Hand Held Terminal Equipment (HHT) by Traveling Ticket Inspectors (TTEs) of trains for checking reserved tickets in running trains and making available vacant seats to other passengers. This will enable the passengers to avail the benefit of vacant reserved seats in the running train and will facilitate the confirmation of tickets of the RAC-waiting list passengers. Manju Meena, Senior DCM, Vadodara Division informed that the use of this state-of-the-art hand-held terminal equipment in the division under digital mode has been first started in train number 12928/12927 Ektanagar – Dadar Express from 18th July, 2022.

Now TTE in trains check reserved tickets and make available vacant seats to other passengers by using digital modern technology with new e-device in the form of hand held terminal instead of reservation charts.

A total of 74 hand held terminals have been provided by Western Railway to Vadodara Division so far. The ticket checking staff of the division is also being trained in using this equipment.

The Hand Held Terminal is a digital device of the size of an iPad. In this, the reservation chart of the passengers will be available.

This machine is connected to the central server of the Passenger Reservation System through GPRS. So wherever the train stops at the station, the ticket booking details get updated automatically. Through this, TTE will also be able to easily do the work of seat confirmation, cancellation, etc. Work is being done at a fast pace to start use of these equipments in other trains as well in Vadodara division.
