Arunachal: Travel restrictions imposed in Mayudia pass due to heavy snowfall  

 

 

GUWAHATI, DEC 30: Deputy Commissioner of Lower Dibang Valley Soumya Saurabh  on Thursday imposed travel restriction in Arunachal Pradesh’s Mayudia pass due to heavy snowfall for last few days.

Mayodia pass is about 56 kilometres from Roing in Arunachal Pradesh, at an elevation of 2,655 metres above sea level.

“There is an increase of visitors/tourists for sightseeing at Mayudia pass which may pose threat to the public safety, security and environment of the area. The visitors/tourist are also found littering the wild life Sanctuary with plastic food packets/disposable cutlery/plastic bottles and other waste materials in and around Mayudia Pass which is detrimental to the eco system of the place as well as to the wild life in that area,”  the order stated.

“Tourist are found to be travelling in large numbers which might cause traffic congestion and damage to the eco system. Several vehicular accidents leading to deaths have been reported in the previous year at Roing-Hunli-shantipur road and there also have been reports of violation of traffic rules,” Lower Dibang Valley DC stated.

The order stated, “. The vehicles will be restricted at Kebali tri-junction for issuance of passes for entry to Mayudia Pass. No tourist vehicles will be allowed to cross Kebali tri-junction beyond 1 PM. 3. Only 100 number of tourist vehicles shall be permitted to visit Mayudia Pass at one time from 31 Dec/2022 until further orders,”.

“Hunli/Anini bound vehicles to cross Mayudia Pass before 10 am to prevent traffic congestion at Mayudia Pass. Carrying equipments for cooking shall not be permitted. Carrying drinking and sale of liquor in the above mention area is prohibited. Lighting fire in any form in the area is strictly prohibited. Tourist should strictly observe social distancing norms and observe Covid appropriate behaviors,”  the order stated.
