DOOMDOOMA : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has undertook an extensive travel at the Kaziranga National Park to take stock of the existing security apparatus in the park and assess the need for security empowerment for the safety of Rhinos and other animals in the Park at Kaziranga on Sunday .

He travelled in side the park for around four hours for around 40 km distance along with PCCF Wildlife MK Yadav and Kaziranga National Park Director Jatindra Sarma along with others.

The suspected poaching of a one horned rhinoceros in Kaziranga National Park was the first such incident in the park in over a year.

The Kaziranga National Park had recorded zero poaching in 2022 ,the first time since 1977,while in 2020 and 2021 ,two rhinos were killed each year.

Later , the body of the suspected rhino poacher, who had escaped from police custody after allegedly cutting away the horn of a rhinoceros in Kaziranga National Park was recovered on Sunday from the Brahmaputra river.
