The political mercury in Gujarat has shot up as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its first list of candidates for the upcoming municipal and panchayat elections, sending a clear and powerful message to opposition parties.
In this opening salvo, the BJP has declared candidates for all 52 seats of the Surendranagar Municipal Corporation. The party has also announced its nominees for taluka panchayats and nagar palikas across Aravalli district.
In Aravalli, the BJP has fielded 24 candidates each for Modasa and Bayad Nagar Palikas. For the taluka panchayats, candidates have been named as follows:
- Modasa – 20
- Bhiloda – 20
- Bayad – 18
- Malpur – 16
- Meghraj – 22
- Shamalaji – 16
- Sathamba – 16
Special Highlight: In a major talking point, former IPS officer Manoj Ninama — who resigned from service just three days ago — has been given the BJP ticket for Aravalli District Panchayat. Party insiders see this as a clear strategy to bring in fresh, dynamic and strong faces into the electoral arena.
With this timely first list, the BJP has accelerated its grassroots preparations and put rival parties on high alert ahead of the local body polls.
This is a developing story. ….
